Can the remote be used with current installed receiver (without disassembling the fan) or will the new receiver need installed?

If the pairing is successful, you can continue using the current receiver. However, if the remote cannot be paired with the existing receiver, you will need to replace the receiver with the new one included in the kit. Hope this helps.
